In November 2012, Denver voters approved ballot measure 2A. As a result, 68 million dollars in already collected taxes that would have been refunded to Denver citizens will be used to improve police and fire protection, improve city streets and increase Denver Public Library hours.
Branch libraries will be open a miniumum of 48 hours per week. The central library is now open 56 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours will be expanded at some branches. The extended hours should be in place in all branches by the end of April.
The Denver Public Library will be hiring and training new employees. Jobs include maintenance workers, clerks and processors, event planners and marketing representatives. For a list of all library positions and a link to current openings, click here.
